Is there anything nicer than sitting on the back porch with family and friends? We love porch life, especially when the weather is nice. It is even more fun to eat outdoors, enjoying nature and the fresh air. We are hoping the weather will be nice enough to spend some time outside during the Thanksgiving Holiday this year!

I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I’ve been in Thanksgiving mode for a few days, menu planning and thinking about tablescapes. I’m excited to have family and friends gather once again!

I was feeling rather creative this morning and decided to do an impromptu tablescape on the loggia. I didn’t go to the store to buy one thing for it! I shopped my home!To create an inexpensive tablescape, the first thing I do, is think about what I have that I can use, with things appropriate for that particular season. Since I used traditional Fall colors on the loggia or back porch this year, I knew my color scheme would be soft oranges, pinks, greens and white. You don’t have to have a table cover, or placemats, but I had these pretty soft orange placemats on hand, so I started with those. I also had some crisp white ruffled linen napkins. I simply tied each one with a piece of jute, and tucked a few sprigs of thyme from the garden into each one. Oh, it smelled so yummy! For my place setting, I used these vintage green and white ivy adorned plates that used to belong to my mom. I have a collection of green antique glasses and set them at each place setting. Next, I adorned the table with these sweet baby boo pumpkins. I gave each one a nest of colorful Nandina sprigs that I snipped from the garden. My mind always wanders to the garden when I am decorating. Not only is using things from the garden an inexpensive way to dress up the table, but it also adds an element of texture, beauty, and the outdoors. I already had this galvanized bucket of faux blooms on the table, so I just added some Nandina stems to it!A pretty pillow and throw on one of the chairs adds a cozy touch and finished off my impromptu fall tablescape perfectly! Now it is all prepared for a Fall luncheon, or a Thanksgiving breakfast or brunch. I hope I have inspired you to try something new when planning your next tablescape. Don’t be afraid to use your imagination, and your own personal touch. Your unique table design can spark some interesting conversation and inspire your guests to try something themselves! It’s so fun! Thank you for coming! Happy Thanksgiving!
